"CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?"

summary

What's this Flim about?

Last year, WAC 1.0 created the documentary H.O.P.E.  a film about the opioid epidemic in our country.

This year for WAC 2.0 we looked at the connection the opioid epidemic has with the Foster care system. In the midsts of the opioid epidemic, we saw too many children losing parents and caregivers to opioids in both rural and urban communities. Foster care placements have risen alongside opioid misuse and death rates, leaving children as the youngest casualties of the nationwide epidemic. We focused on how the topics came together in Duff, TN and sought to bring attention to the connection they had.

It was a very emotional experience for all not only the producers but for the interviewees as well and you can watch their interviews HERE and below you'll find a poem written by the youth producers!!!

WAC 2.O POEM

Together we made a heartfelt movie

We'll see each other again someday

For the first time in a long time, I'm genuinely happy

I know this bond is strong and we'll always find our way

Thank you for spending these small hours with me

So happy meeting awesome friends but so sad leaving them

Every end has a beginning and every beginning has an end

The Fostercare is a complicated system but friendship doesn't have to be

I know I will see them again one day but till them I hope I never loose touch

Working together changes the impossible into doable

Don't ever run, praise the sun

Another great summer of memories and friendships

Keep Moving Forward!!!
